Don't Throw your USB Mouse Away!Nov 08, 2009 I am so sick of this product, and having to plug in my USB mouse to use the connection utility to get a connection for the mouse and keyboard. What good is a wireless product if you have to keep the wired ones on stand by to correct frequent failures? I have had this set for about two years and have received all of the software updates, but the bluetooth connection still continues to drop. I'm not into gaming and don't have any usage problems with either the keyboard or the mouse, but keeping them connected is a huge problem. If it isn't the mouse, it's the keyboard, a really bad day is when they both go, and I then have to drag out the other mouse in order to navigate on the computer to get to the connection utility. THEN, getting the keyboard to connect takes forever, and it goes through 4 or 5 connection cycles before it will connect. Other times, I have to reboot the computer because the keyboard will not connect at all. The other issue I have with the keyboard is if I want to cut it off to help save the batteries, I have to go through the connection lunacy, and spend half the day trying to get it to connect.
I would not purchase this product again, and do not recommend it.
Response delayed and connectivity spotty. avoidOct 24, 2009 I do 3D animation, video editing, etc. and I like to work fast.
I bought this hoping to update my really old wireless mouse and corded keyboard. That still worked great(also Logitech) but had gotten kinda scuzzy over the years. That old beige just looks old.
I got this combo and the keyboard is super slow. it finishes typing several moments after you type the letters.
This is bad in Maya when you're trying to navigate and click at the same time, it takes 9 years to use the hot box controls and if you press two keys it often thinks you did them in some order instead of at the same time like CTRL ALT and SHIFT with the spacebar.
I'm typing on it now and I'm glad I ordered a new CORDED keyboard and mouse (still logitech, I like Logitech, just hate bluetooth). The bluetooth mouse takes forever to respond and when it does it overshoots. I spend more time trying to move it where I need it to be than actually getting work done.
BLUETOOTH
it doesn't connect all the time. some times I have to hold the keyboard and mouse right next to the USB transmitter and then it may or may not work. I am super frustrated with this bluetooth nightmare.
I have wasted hours of time trying to get them to connect. I don't have time for that. Went back to corded with backlighting.
Great initial experience, weak durabilityJul 22, 2009 I am using two of the logitech sets, and I'm extremely please with mouse and keyboard comfort. After installing the newest software I have not experienced any software related issues. Keyboard battery life is decent (using 2200mAh rechargeables), mouse with the charger isn't an issue neither.
Unfortunately after approximately year of use the material used to protect mouse surface started to peel of. Shortly after I've noticed it on the mouse I use at work (approx 8hr day) same symptoms appeared on my mouse I use at home (4hr day). It doesnt affect the functional aspect of the mouse, however it highly decreases comfort of use. I'm contacting logitech trying to get a replacement.

Logitech Setpoint FAILJun 28, 2009 I'm a seasoned user of the Logitech Laser combos: I own 2 MX3100s and now 1 MX5000.
This Bluetooth incarnation (MX5000) had been incredibly buggy and frustrating, including Setpoint continually failing.
So, I decided to start over and uninstall Setpoint. I used Revo Uninstaller to wipe clean Logitech files from my Vista PC, including the Registry. Then, I put the MX5000's USB receiver back in and booted up. I expected to have to install Setpoint to proceed.
Wrong!
My mouse and keyboard work perfectly, and there are no Logitech files whatsoever on my PC (I know what I'm doing and have checked this.) Vista had everything built-in.
No "connect" buttons have been pushed on either the keyboard or the mouse. No recognition by the PC (my keyboard no longer displays date, time, etc).
Most incredibly, no more issues. No lag, no drifitng cursor, nothing. With Vista alone, amnd without Setpoint, it is working beautifully.
All of the FAIL of the Bluetooth incarnation is due to the "Setpoint" software. The units work fine- it's the heavy front end that has caused tens of thousands of customers untold misery and grief.
FAIL, Logitech.
Love the BT part, not so the key boardJun 27, 2009 The BT adapter opens up options for me. Just love it. the mouse runs dry pretty quick but works very well and precise. the key board, i hate. it glitches alot-it would disconnect and can't reconnect(there's 3 tricks to reconnect it, and 1 of them always works.) the low battery warning would come on randomly. the set point program suck. works about 75% of the time. it's been l;ike 2 year in and it's still working, so that's really good.
