 Nice wireless cardAug 17, 2009
I tried to use a Linksys card bought a few years ago but it did not seem to work. Since I had recently set up a Netgear router, I decided to buy a new card. The card works great and I have no major issues with it but I feel a few minor things could be improved...
1) The wireless window layout is fine... I wish it would use the Windows wireless window as my B version of the card used... This is true for both the Linksys and Netgear cards...
2) This may be for security reasons but if you switch from a secured network to unsecured and come back, the WEP key needs to be reentered and the proper encryption needs to be selected. I use a 128 WEP key with my router and forgotten that it resets to 64 bits and wondering why I can not connect back up... It would be nice if I could set a profile for this setting (unless I can be done and I am not doing things right)...
3) There should be a clean way to disconnect from the network without using windows to stop the hardware... This is not clear to me that it can be done... I may be mistaken...
Update:
I found out that I set a profile for my connection that takes care of issue 2...

I ordered this for my son's laptop that he uses in the basement since we only have wireless internet connections. It was easy to install and works great! He is loving the fact that he can get on the internet without having to use my computer. Highly recommend if you have a Netgear wireless router.

This is a very nice wireless card. I had a usb mini wireless adapter before. This netgear card gives me a lot better signal and quicker log on to the internet

I installed this on a newly purchased laptop. This became very very "HOT" and basically burned up my laptops cpu. I am now in hand of a non-working newly purchased laptop uncovered by any warranty.
Beware!!
