Description:

NETGEAR's WPN311 RangeMax Wireless PCI Adapter, when used with the WPN824 Wireless Router, delivers up to 1000% the coverage and speed of 802.11g. New antenna technology has increased range beyond what was ever possible with previous generation Wi-Fi adapters. Keep your network private with WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access). Setup is quick and easy with the Smart Wizard install assistant. With the RangeMax Wireless Network, you have the longest range of any wireless device on the market today - up to 10 times the wireless coverage of 802.11g. So you'll have a sizzling-fast, consistent connection in every room of your house and beyond. Range Matters: RangeMax adjusts to the interference and physical barriers in your home, and delivers up to 500,000 square feet of coverage - 1000% more than 802.11g. And you don't need to throw away your old wireless devices; RangeMax is 100% compatible with your existing 802.11b/g products and will boost their range and speed by up to 50%. Power Under the Hood: RangeMax is an advanced Smart MIMO (Multi-In, Multi-Out) technology that uses seven internal antennas. RangeMax constantly surveys your home environment for physical barriers and interference and adjusts the wireless signal to compensate for these performance blockers. For example, if you carry your laptop from the family room to the bedroom, RangeMax automatically senses the change and selects from over 100 possible antenna configurations to deliver you the fastest, clearest connection! Simple, Safe, Secure: NETGEAR's SmartWizard makes the set-up easy and hassle-free. SmartWizard automatically detects your ISP's network settings, then walks you through each step of the installation process. It's like having your own computer technician, right by your side. NETGEAR also ensures that every computer user in your home network is protected from intruders by using: a double firewall, WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy), and WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access, Pre-Shared Key) Security.

5straightforward, easy installation on XPOct 09, 2009
After reading some other reviews describing tough installation, I still bought this card. I followed instructions - loaded the software before installing the card. The installation was completely simple. Connected immediately.

4Upset with Best Buy (The retail store)Jul 19, 2009
I brought this product less than a month ago, but I didnt get around to installing it (had 2 other working computers). Finally, last night I installed the card following the instructions and tied it in to my router. Received a good reading that everything was set up fine, but could not connect to the internet. I called tech support (24/7) and after giving then the SN# and model#, I was told that this card is 3 years old, and I should take it back to the store for and updated model or upgrade the firmware. Hence I went with the firmware and it worked perfectly. Bestbuy needs to update their products.

2Don't spend the money on itJun 05, 2009
Followed the instructions to the letter and will connect sporadically. Wanted this card to take advantage of my RangeMax Router.

The card works, but the sofware is horrible. Should have went with a cheaper card.

5Netgear Wireless PCI AdapterApr 15, 2009
I installed this card in my new Windows Vista computer and it connected to my wireless Netgear router with no problems. In fact, I already purchased this exact wireless card before for my other computer about a year ago and it still works great! I would highly recommend this product to everyone. Paying no tax and shipping makes this product even better :-)

5Works greatMar 22, 2009
It is one of 4 wireless connections I use and I have had not any major problems. I purchased it to match up with my Netgear WPN824 Rangemax wireless router. It does take a little tweaking of the antenna for strongest signals. The computer is on the far side of the house from the router over 100 feet, 4 walls and 2 doors away and I still get 54% signal strength. It is connected to a Dell Inspiron running Vista.
