WPN111Aug 16, 2009 The adapter works well, providing good speed and range when connected. The problem
is to use the adapter you must use the manufactures device and connection software.
In other words the device drivers are not provided separately. This software acts as
the connection manager and does so in a manner that is clumsy, redundant and should
not be required to operate the adapter. Overall the quality and construction of the
unit is good, but it's required software lets it down and does a poor job of
effectively maintaining the wireless connection.
Netgear AntennaJul 11, 2009 I received this antenna shortly after ordering it. It works fine. I was somewhat surprised that no installation disk was provided but I was able to download the necessary drivers from the internet and am very pleased with the result. This anetenna has to pick up a signal from about 300 feet away and the signal must travel through two window panes before reaching the antenna. It does a fine job. The only thing I notice is that the antenna does run a little hot. I guess this is normal.
WPN111 netgear adapterJun 26, 2009 I was to happy to order this item, the price was just right and I knew netgear is a good brand. I was told it would come with a CD disk to install, instead it came with instruction to found disk download, at netgear.com. After founding the right drive to download. I still had problems getting connected. Had to ask for help from netgear technical support. They were very nice in helping me getting the adapter to work. The adapter starts out working fine, then it will disconnect from the internet and after clicking refresh it will start up again. Also once the computer is shut down and you turn it back on, the adapter stops working. So I have to go thu the whole connecting process again to get the adapter to connect to the internet. I have use many different brands of adapter and this is the 1st time that I am having this problem. I choose this adapter because, its much stronger then the one I had. So I feel there is something wrong with the adapter. My Laptop is fairly new so I know its not the computer. I wouldn't purchase anything else from this seller. I have 2 reason 1st one. It took over a month to get my purchase and 2 Item is defective.
No Netgear supportJun 26, 2009 No Netgear support. You cannot download drivers or firmware for this device anymore. The links do not work. I bought this at full retail when it first came out, now at half price, I cannot recommend any netgear products since their website has no accessible drivers to upgrade. I cannot use this device on a secure connection without the most recent firmware. Bad customer support!
Works better than BelkinJun 02, 2009 I have a 2 story house with the router and PC with the adapter on separate floors about 30' apart. I tried Belkins G router and adapter; No good. "Low" to "Very Low" signal and sometimes no connection or wireless network available. Then I tried the Netgear Rangemax Wireless Router with the Belkin card and got "low" up to "Good" signal with only my network available. After being online a few minutes the adapter got hot and cut out. I had to restart the pc. Now I purchased the netgear wpn111 rangemax and it and the router are working well together. It finds 5 different wireless networks in my area. It automatically connects to my encrypted network and gets very good signal (Mostly 4 out of 5 bars. It does vary from 36 mps to 56 mps at times but it seems to hold the connection OK for web surfing. After all the problems with Belkin stuff I'm happy this one works. I've only had it a few days so far but it seems MUCH better than the Belkin stuff.
