4Great ValueMay 17, 2008
I purchased the Kameleon 8 9964 from Netdirectbargains. Great Value, proper shipping and on time.

This is a very good remote and works very well, Why pay $350 for a IR-RF controller from Logitech? Some reviewers said it does not work. Mine works as stated. Both the IR and RF sides even with attached Blaster. As this is a unit developed a few years back, it will need an upgrade for newer equipment. The Customer Service phone desk at One for All, were very helpful, and very polite. They answer the phone in the United States. The controller can be upgraded over the phone or even from a WAV file emailed to you. A simple task. I would say the controller is missing one button needed for HDTV and that is the hyphen (-) to enter a HD channel like 5-1. This is easy to correct by programing one button as a hyphen. Be sure to ask the One for All customer service to email you all the advanced codes for all your equipment as there will be some special codes you may want to enter for complicated equipment like DVR's and PVR's. There has been some bad rap that this controller is a battery eater. I would recommend to turn off the vibration control and adjust the brightness of the screen and amount of time the controller screen stays on. Anyhow I would not complain about a battery cell that cost $.50 when gas is over $4.00/gal. Stay home an watch TV and this controller will save you money.

For the money of $35 you get a great controller and RF. The Next Generation Remote Control extender cost the same, but will only work with one controller. You have to spend an extra $30 for additional transmitters for each remote you have.

I don't under stand why One For All has not updated their equipment offering in the past few years. Let's hope with the new Audiovox agreement they will.

A nice addition would be to add a USB port to allow remote programing with you computer, but I am happy with what I have for my $35 fee.

5Great REMOTEMar 31, 2008
I've had this remote for over 2 years and it's working as well as day one. haven't replaced the last set of batteries in over 6 months and there's still no sign of them dying. The macros work well, the "coolness" factor hasn't worn off, and the screen is very bright.

5The Chucksters KameleonFeb 18, 2008
Works Fine and lasts a long time. The only problem is it has the option to light up the keys when you pick it up, but it will do this from any vibration near to it which cause it to light up the keys even when not being used which runs the battiers down sooner!

3Good concept with so so executionOct 31, 2007
I bought this remote because I got sick of switching between 5 different remotes to work my complicated TV setup. It looks great, worked fine, and I loved the way only the buttons for the device I was using lit up but the batteries died every few weeks because the motion sensor went off and turned the thing on with the littlest bit of stimulation. A great idea but unless you have stock in Energizer you may want to choose a more traditional remote.

4Battery eater no more.... After the warranty was upJul 27, 2007
I opened it up. I read at a hack site about the vibe sensor tied to little bb's in a 1 inch x .25 inch little silver colored box. I carefully pried it open from the one side where it is is black plastic and out popped two little bb's. I removed them and reassmebled the little box and the unit and now the lights only go on when I hit a button. They stay on for about 5 seconds and a few of the buttons are a little darker now, but I don't care. Battery life is a lot longer now and the unit works like a champ. Can't do anything about the tactile feel, but it's ok, I'm used to it now.
